Religious Education is provided as part of our religion and world views curriculum and, in accordance with Local Authority guidelines, follows the Lancashire Agreed Syllabus.
School follows the Kapow scheme of work for religion and world views across school to ensure continuity and progression.
Children learn about many religious preferences (and that some people choose to have no faith) with a focus on developing tolerance and understanding of themselves and others in our community.
Teaching religion and world views promotes:
· Responding to life’s ‘big questions’
· Understanding key religious concepts
· Building substantive knowledge
· Developing disciplinary skills
· Contributing to informed discussions
· Exploring diversity
Assemblies – technically termed ‘daily acts of collective worship’ – are a legal requirement. Our assemblies promote values which complement and reinforce all faiths.
Parents have a statutory right to withdraw their children from Religious Education and assemblies if they so wish. Please discuss wishes to withdraw with a member of senior management.
