Medical Procedures

Marton’s Out of School Group follows all the emergency and medical procedures of Marton Primary Academy & Nursery.

A qualified Paediatric First Aider is on site at all times. A First Aid Box is kept readily available within the setting.

Accident Procedures

All accidents, whether they require first aid treatment or not, will be recorded in the Out Of School Group Accident Book. Parents / carers will be asked to sign the Accident Book upon collection of their child as a record of notification.

Emergency Procedures

In the event of a child requiring hospital attention, the Emergency Contact on the child’s registration details will be notified immediately and the Supervisor or their assistant will accompany the child to hospital in an ambulance if necessary.

Please ensure that all contact details are kept up to date. Complete the online form if you need to update your details.

Illness Procedures

If a child is ill or infectious and it is not appropriate for them to remain at Out of School Group then the Supervisor or her assistant will contact the Emergency Telephone Number on the Registration Form so that arrangements can be made for the child to be collected.

If a child is absent from school or taken ill during the school day, the parent / carer should ask for the Out of School Group Supervisor to be notified, where possible.

Prescribed Medicines

In line with school policy, children with long term medical needs are not discriminated against. Prior to admittance to Out of School Group, a medical care plan will be compiled by the school’s SEN team and risk assessments completed where appropriate.

Children who administer their own medicines in school hours, such as asthma inhalers, will be able to continue to do so under supervision at Out of School Group.

All other medicines should be administered by parents / carers. Where this is not practicable, contact should be made with the school’s SEN team to make alternative arrangements.

For further information please refer to the Supporting Pupils at School with Medical Conditions Policy below. Alternatively, parents / carers may request a paper copy from the School Office.
